My good friend Robert (xdutchessgummybunsx on IG) commissioned me to paint his DuboRat recently, and I had a blast with this one. First of all, I feel so grateful whenever anyone entrusts a blank toy to me. I'm honored to have people stoked on what I do, and I totally put all my heart and soul into painting. What can I say - the DuboRat by Undead Toys of Japan is an awesome sculpt! His posturing, the details, a little death rot... this is exactly the type of thing that makes painting seem like not painting. It's just fun! I was really stoked on how this guy turned out, and I hope Robert is too!

My friends at Nebula Vaping manufacture e-liquids and hardware right here in Downtown Mesa. They have been huge supporters of me, and I was so excited when they asked me to customize one of their NV 350 Vape Cubes! The NV 350 allows users to have 4 flavors on deck at one time! Next time you are in Downtown Mesa, stop by their shop and check them out. Super nice people, super high quality products. If you are interested in purchasing this custom NV350, head over to their site and nab it here! This guy is a bit hard to photograph, but I airbrushed Frankenstein on the top side, Nosferatu on one side, and Phantom of the Opera on the other. Four custom colored handles were added by Nebula and I bombed their name on the end to finish this great piece off. Here's the finished box:
Downtown Mesa's Brew Fest was such a blast! Thank you to all who came out, taking some great local brews, enjoyed the sounds of Unfortunate Youth, and played a little corn hole in the sunshine! The response to this event was incredible! I heard they expected 800 visitors, and they hit 2,000 in just four hours. Most of the beer vendors sold out! What a great event, thank you so much DMA for having me be a part of this. Can't wait for the next one. Some shots of the fun (and my corn hole games in action) below:
Downtown Mesa is having it's first of hopefully many BREWFEST on March 7th, from 2-6pm, and the wonderful people at DMA commissioned me to give 8 corn hole games some color love! Here's a few WIP shots. Come see the finished product and hang out, drink some local brews and enjoy 3 live bands with us! More info on Mesa Brewfest here.
Debris Japan is an amazing sofubi Oni dude, made by Restore of Japan! I just had the pleasure of meeting Abe briefly at the Lulubell booth at NYCC, and man is he one hell of a talented dude! He had the resin prototype for the Eternal Cloud on display, and the details were just insane as always. They also had some blank and painted Debris Japan's up for grabs, which made me even happier to return to AZ only to be asked to paint one! The commission was for a prior release on Gold vinyl, so it was a fun challenge for me to make this guy pop, but let that awesome gold shine through in it's favor as well. Here's how he came out! I had a great time highlighting his chiseled muscles (and there just might be some surprise highlights under his mawashi as well, just saying'). Once again, pictures not taken by me, because the pictures taken by those who commission these guys always are way more awesome! Photos by Danny Castillo. Thank you again Danny for another awesome commission - you Rock!
My good friend Robert just loves him some Cop-A-Squat & I love this figure, so when he approached me with a black Semi Korosiya blank to customize, of course I was down. I covered this guy with some deep jewel tone metallics, a touch of color change, and an overall heavy glitter to finish him off. Here's a rad shot Robert took of this guy at the beach in CA! Fun lil mini-commission on a Mini Real Head x Skull Toys clear Honesuke! Love clears - a lil bit of candy sprays and they look like glass!
Had the pleasure of getting another awesome Cure Boogie Man commission, and was given free reign on colors and design which is always a blast! Had a ball with this guy & never painted this Thorn Ball version before , so it was a super fun one all around. It even had a stand, which was a blast to paint as well. All started out as flesh vinyl. Check out all the pics (sent to me by the person who commissioned it - not my photos). Interested in having me blast paint all over one of your blanks? Hit me up using the contact form! All Photos lovingly taken by Danny Castillo. Thanks so much Danny for this rad commission!
One of my raddest supporters in AZ, and a friend near & dear to my heart, is always scouring the interwebs looking for rad blanks he likes, and he often has me customize them. I'm so grateful & honored that he keeps coming back to me for more, and I always challenge myself to blow him out of the water each time. So when he came to me with a blank flesh Brain Bug Boogie Man, I knew I had to give this guy my all. It's an amazingly detailed sculpt, I love both Cure Toys & James Groman, and I've always wanted to paint one. Trifecta of awesomeness - thank you so much Robert for having me do this guy up for you!
(Photos by Robert Howell) I'm always honored when a fellow artist commissions me to do something for them. The talented Nebulon5 had me capture his cat, Dirty, on canvas. Long fur is always a fun challenge for me, and I'm pretty stoked on how it turned out. This one is about 24" x 20", acrylic & aerosol on canvas. Thanks Mike for this cool opportunity!
