Stoked to get to reveal this fun collaboration for DesignerCon 2019! It's so awesome in many ways to get to collaborate with Splurrt for this project. First of all, this mash -up came about by a good friend (and fan of both figures) who put this mash up together with figures they owned & then let us know it should be a thing! Super cool how well they work together & we obviously agreed! I've been a fan of Joe's sculpts and painting for a while. I enjoy his overall aesthetic from toy to packaging, I can appreciate anyone who sculpts their own stuff (it's so not easy!) and his paint apps not only have a classic kaiju monster vibe, but he incorporates the base color of his figures excellently and this is something I struggled with for a while when I made the move from canvas to vinyl. Much gratitude to Joe/Splurrt for this collab, I'm really stoked on how it came out.
Rot Smiler is composed of my Aleister Head on Splurrt's Cadaver Kid body. Joe suggested smoke grey vinyl for this bad boy, and as you can see from the backlit photo below, it was a great choice! I did the airbrushing on this one as Joe gets ready for his first child's arrival soon (congrats!) Red sprays, gold hand painted details, all over blood splatter & sold blind as there are three different eyeball paints possible: dot, serpent & spiral! (see photo above). Rot Smiler will be available exclusively at Designer Con 2019 at the Lulubell Toys booth #1345! $75usd each, available at doors opening until sold out, MAX 1 per person! Stoked to see everyone at Dcon in a few weeks. Be sure to stop by & introduce yourself, I'll be hanging out with the awesome Lulubell Crew all weekend at booth 1345 with hugs and high fives.
