Shub Zeroth is one of my favorite things on the planet to paint, so when the awesome dudes at Metacrypt hit me up to paint for them again, I was of course more than happy to oblidge. It's not only such an honor and priviledge to get to paint these, but design wise, I also just love every aspect of this figure and pour my heart into this guy each time I get my hands on him! It's been interesting to get to dabble in this crazy sofubi world when I can. How this one works is I'm usually presented with a concept to interpret, in ths case, an Apollo-astronaut colorway! These were a crisp white base vinyl, which can be a little intimidating to work with sometimes, and my first test version was a bit different than this one. After test 1 review, we discussed some tweaks, and above is what became the final version. Making someone else's vision a reality is always a cool but challenging experience because everyone involved has a different picture they an see in their head, but we have to work togther really closely to make both pictures end up as one. Shub is one that always seems to eventually click really well once we are there. Huge thank you to Brian & Justin for entrusting your baby to me yet again. Shub Zeroth will be up for grabs Friday, June 24th at 10am Pacific Time on the Meta-Cyrpt site here. UPDATE: SOLD OUT! Thank you to everyone who grabbed one.

It had been a while since I had time to paint on canvas, so I was itching to get back to it, and with the Media Blackout show I was invited to, I thought this would be the perfect tribute piece to jump back in with. For this show we were told to create a new piece, and not post pictures until after the opening. Funny thing in today's world. So here's my piece, the day after the opening! Admidst all the recent talents gone in 2016, Sean Price was a huge bummer for me, gone way too soon like all the others. We all have our heroes, our inspirations, our favorites. If you aren't familiar, here's a good place to start, and if you are familiar and are able, you can make a donation towards his wife and children's fund here.
You can see this piece in the month of June as a part of the Media Blackout gallery show at Lulubell Toys, or you can purchase via my website in the store section here! |
