Since I don't have a ton of time to prep for SDCC this year, I'm focusing on a few killer pieces that I truly love to paint! This is the Diagomi by Guumon. First off, Brian from Guumon, in addition to being talented,  is just a rad guy. Super nice, super positive person. I always like to support good people, and Brian exemplifies the kind of person I love working with. And Diatom is a nice large, chunky sculpt with a variety of cool elements to focus in on. Every time I look at these guys, I discover something new. This was a dark base vinyl, so I decided I'd highlight the natural details in metallics and candy colors, and I found the perfect eyeball to finish him off. SDCC always seems to come up so fast, and I haven't really had time to get anything done. It's going to be a lean offering for me this year, but as always I'm honored to even be a part of this little world, and I'm hustling hard to get a few knockout pieces done. It doesn't help that my busy season at work is the summer, so long days in the AZ heat are not very conducive to me wanting to paint at night. But then when I get an awesome blank from BlobPus in my hot little hand, I am inspired to pull out that airbrush again! This was a clear orange blank, super fun base color to work with. I thought some color change accents would be rad on this guy, so I hit his skull hand and eye backgrounds with some purple to green, various metallics on the rest, and some fun yellow handprinted detailing. I really like how this guy turned out. He'll be coming with me to San Diego...along with whatever else I can get done in the next few weeks!
